Hermel
The main town of the Beqaa,
located in the north, on the banks of Orontes River, Hermel is a small farming town that is known mainly for the attractions in the nearby vicinity. The most well known of these is undoubtedly the mysterious Pyramid of Amor a monumental squared block that culminates in a pyramid, rising to a height of more than 27 meters.
It is probably a royal Syrian tomb dating back at least 2000 years,
but many believe that it was an unusual hunting lodge because of the relief carvings on the sides depicting deer and wild boar
stalked by dogs and a bull being attacked by wolves.
Just a few kilometers north of Hermel the river forms large pools and waterfalls. Here the waters are particularly clear and form a perfect habitat for the abundant trout. A walk along the riverbank in this area is truly an enchanting experience.
